We are seeking a highly motivated, patient, nurturing, reliable, trustworthy, innovative, and peaceful Montessori Toddler Lead Guide to join our beautiful, cozy school, where families and staff collaborate as a community. The Lead Guide will work alongside a trained assistant and oversee a group of 10 children aged 18 months to 3 years.

Responsibilities of the Montessori Teacher

The Montessori teacher will help children develop their social, physical, intellectual, and emotional skills. This includes assessing individual needs and communicating with parents as necessary. The goal is to create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment where every child feels included. To succeed as a Montessori teacher, you should be a lifelong learner who inspires a love of learning in your students. Outstanding candidates acknowledge their failures, learn from their mistakes, and embrace creativity and independence.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children as they learn in the classroom

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment where all children feel valued

  • Establishing rapport and building trust-based relationships with students

  • Setting an excellent example for students and instilling good values such as honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness

  • Monitoring and assessing student progress

  • Ensuring that classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition

  • Participating in school activities

Requirements for the Montessori Teacher

  • A Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, teaching, or a related discipline is recommended

  • Completion of training at an accredited Montessori center

  • Additional courses or training in education are advantageous

  • A passion for alternative education

  • Ability to teach groups of children with varying ages, needs, and abilities

  • Patience, along with excellent observational, communication, and diagnostic skills

  • Strong planning and organizational skills

  • A lifelong learner who serves as a positive role model for children

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience

  • Montessori Education: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Early Childhood Education: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification

  • Montessori Certification (AMS/MACTE or AMI) is required
