Parent Infant Classes: Session 1

In these weekly classes you will have the opportunity to experience a Montessori environment for infants and to learn about movement, language, and social-emotional development from a Montessori perspective. These classes focus on relationship building between parent and child and include opportunities to observe as well as interact.

The class is guided by Erin Smith, new mom and experienced Montessori Educator and Teacher Trainer.

Montessori 101 for Parents

This introduction to Montessori for parents will provide information on the Montessori approach with a special emphasis on children from Birth to Three. Parents will learn the basics of the approach and tools for how to implement the Montessori approach at home.

Compassionate Communication with Parents (for Teachers)

Learn to build meaningful partnerships with parents based on open-hearted communication. Examine your own communication style and ways to use your strengths to effectively communicate with parents without burning yourself out. This workshop will include opportunities for self-reflection, role-playing exercises and small group problem-solving sessions along with strategies that can be taken out of the workshop and into the real world of working with children and families.

 This workshop is open to Teachers working with children of all ages, Assistant Teachers and School Administrators.**

**Note: Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance that qualifies as Professional Development in the Colorado PDIS system

Montessori Refresher

Aren’t able go to New Orleans for the Refresher Course? Come to The Montessori Institute for a Mini Refresher! Be inspired and rejuvenated to finish the winter months and enjoy spring with the young children in your lives. Join us for this refresher as we discuss what has and hasn't worked. Then leave with motivation and ideas from experienced AMI trainer, Karey Lontz, to finish the school year with enthusiasm.

Independence and Collaboration: Supporting Your Child’s Natural Development Starting from Birth

This class will explore the relationship between Attachment and Independence in the child under three and will offer practical tips on how to encourage both of these crucial aspects of child development.

30 Hour 0-6 Assistants’ Workshop

This course provides professional development for Montessori Assistants working in Nido, Infant Community or Primary environments. The workshop will include lectures, observations and information for the practical application of the Montessori approach. This course is open to Montessori classroom assistants, parents, administrators and teachers.

The coursework consists of 30 hours of class time, which includes lectures, discussions, observations  and material making. A TMI Assistant’s Workshop certificate will be issued based on 100% attendance.

This workshop is open to Assistants, Teachers, Administrators and Parents

Montessori Move and Build: Materials to Support Movement Development

This course will provide an exploration of movement development and its’ importance in the life of the child under three. We will delve into the ways in we can go further in supporting this important aspect of development in our daily work with children and examine our attitudes and approach to movement in our own lives. Participants will create a developmental aid for movement and a basic lesson plan for introducing a new movement material into their environment.

 This workshop is open to Teachers working with children of all ages, Assistant Teachers and School Administrators.**

Babies on the Move: Why Your Child Needs to Move and How You Can Help

Movement is a key component of the Montessori approach because movement is so important to the physical, intellectual and emotional development of the young child. Parents will learn how to support movement development and embrace this important aspect of their child’s life.
