Where Tradition
Meets Innovation
At The Montessori Institute, we honor Montessori’s timeless legacy and embrace fresh approaches to learning.
Through our AMI-accredited training, we foster curiosity, equity, and growth- building a future shaped together by children, families, and teachers.
Since 1947, Montessori Assistants to Infancy (A to I) training has shaped how we understand and care for infants and young children. Grounded in observation and supported by modern research, TMI’s course emphasizes gentle birth practices, meaningful connection through touch and communication, and the importance of language and music in the child’s early environment.
At its core, the training honors the infant as an active participant in their own development. Students learn to create prepared environments that support freedom of movement, exploration, and discovery—using thoughtfully designed materials, furnishings, and clothing that respond to the unique needs of each child.
Dr. Silvana Montanaro established the first AMI-accredited A to I training in Rome in 1980, bringing it to the United States in 1982. The Montessori Institute (TMI) was founded by Judi Orion in 1988, continuing this work and expanding access to Montessori education.
The course prepares adults to support families from pregnancy through early childhood, working with expectant parents, assisting at birth, creating responsive environments, and serving as lead teachers in infant and toddler communities.
