Our school serves approximately 200 students from 16-months-old through eighth grade. The child-centered Montessori method is the foundation of our programming, and our Children’s House classrooms are recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).

About the Position
This is an opportunity to guide children through key developmental years by leading a Montessori classroom alongside a supportive, mission-driven team and in partnership with engaged families.
The Children’s House Guide will lead one of the three AMI-recognized Children’s House classrooms at MRM. Each classroom enrolls from 24 to 27 three- through six-year-old children.
MRM operates on an academic calendar, with school in session early September through early June. During the summer, the school offers a Montessori-inspired childcare program at the Children’s House level.
Core Job Responsibilities
● Plan for and direct activities to support each child’s social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development within a carefully prepared Montessori environment.
● Guide the classroom in a manner consistent with Montessori philosophy, principles, and practices as articulated by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and the Head of School.
● Present individual and small-group lessons using Montessori materials.
● Lead the classroom in accordance with state regulations and under the direction and supervision of the Head of School.
● Collaborate with and mentor classroom Assistant(s) to observe the children and support the development of their independence, concentration, and self-direction.
● Maintain the materials in the Prepared Environment so they are clean, complete, and in good repair; develop, repair, and create materials as needed.
● Communicate with families through a monthly newsletter, occasional emails or phone calls, and conference reports and meetings held twice each year.
● Embody the role of a Prepared Adult in the Montessori tradition by:
○ Moving and speaking with intention and care
○ Demonstrating a deep understanding of Montessori philosophy and child development
○ Cultivating patience, humility, and self-awareness in order to truly see and support each child

Hours
The school is open M-F from 7:30AM to 5:30PM with the core school day extending from8:30-3:30. Teachers are generally expected to be on campus between 7:30AM and 4:00PM.
One evening staff meeting per month, typically from 5:30-7:00.
Occasional evening/weekend hours.
Start Date: This position begins on August 24, 2026.
Status
Children’s House Guide is a salaried, exempt position offered on a full-time basis. The salary
range is $46,000 - $64,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred
● AMI Primary Diploma preferred, other Montessori training and experience considered
● A positive attitude, strong work ethic, genuine and joyful nature, quiet and welcoming manner with children, and ability to collaborate with other adults to support the classroom
● Five years of experience working directly with children is required, more preferred
● Ability to pass a background check
