Reports To: Lower School Director
Employee Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $45,000-$48,000 annually
Daily Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am- 4:45 pm (with a 45-minute break)
Job Summary
MAC is looking for a passionate and experienced Nido Lead Teacher to support the growth and success of all three of our infant environments. This leadership role is essential in upholding Montessori principles, mentoring assistant teachers, and ensuring consistency and collaboration across classrooms.
The Nido Lead Teacher works in partnership with the Lead Teachers in each Nido classroom and plays a key role in modeling and upholding Montessori pedagogy. This includes providing respectful and responsive care to infants during daily routines, such as diapering, feeding, dressing, and washing, while nurturing their independence and trust.
In addition to supporting classroom operations, the Nido Lead Teacher will guide and mentor assistant teachers, offering support and feedback to ensure a high standard of care and education throughout the Nido community. We are seeking someone who is not only deeply grounded in Montessori philosophy but also values building strong relationships. The ideal candidate brings warmth, patience, and flexibility and is committed to fostering strong connections with colleagues, families, and children. A collaborative spirit and the ability to create a cohesive, nurturing environment across all Nido classrooms are essential.
The Nido Lead Teacher plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity and beauty of the Montessori environment. This includes preparing and rotating materials to meet developmental needs, ensuring classrooms are clean and orderly, and upholding high standards of wellness and safety.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Help maintain the prepared environment according to the specifics provided by the school and the lead teacher. This includes the Nido Community Room
Communicate with the children using language and tone of voice that is authentic, natural, and, most importantly, kind
Manage the team of Nido community support assistant teachers
Serve as a mentor and role model to all assistant teachers, providing guidance, support, and feedback to help them grow in their practice
Promote feelings of security and trust in Nido by encouraging and supporting them through activities as needed
Be available, present, and focused on the children during daily transitions (i.e., work cycle, walks, outside time, lunch, and naps)
Perform cleaning and maintenance necessary to keep the classroom and common spaces clean, beautiful, and safe
Maintain a positive work environment among all staff that is professional, kind, and inclusive
Support and communicate with families, sharing updates on their child’s development through daily interactions and regular documentation in Transparent Classroom
Embrace continuous learning by utilizing professional development days and monies to enrich the practice
Embody the MAC Mission and Characteristics of Excellence daily
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, related degree preferred
AMS or AMI Montessori training at Infant/Toddler level preferred
Experience working with Infant/Toddler Aged children (8 weeks-18 months)
Ability to effectively interface with students, parents, faculty, and staff
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven leadership abilities with a commitment to fostering collaboration and team growth
